12-volt electrical system in your Star RV vehicle

Your motorhome has three batteries, one in the engine compartment and two in the rear of the cabin. The battery inside the cabin is also called the auxiliary battery.

The engine compartment battery is located under the passenger’s side cabin floor, in the main driver’s cabin.

The auxiliary battery operates the TV, water pump, fridge, USB ports and interior lights and is charged by both the alternator when the vehicle is being driven and the 240-volt system when it is plugged in to a mains power source.

The 12-volt electrical panel is located on the side wall as you enter the motorhome. This panel operates the water pump and lights. This panel must be turned on at all times to operate any device on the 12-volt system.

How long will my battery last?

It is recommended to use the interior powered features conservatively and if you intend to stay off grid, that every 48 hours you charge the power at a powered outlet to keep batteries charged.

When off grid, the water pump will use the majority of your battery charge, so we do recommend having it turned on only when you need to use it.
